The Archipelago Group (TAG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Ong Hui-Koon as Group Chief Executive, Mr. Kanes Naidu Athinaidu as Group Chief Underwriter and Mr. Lim Boon Ing as Group Chief Operating Officer, effective 1 July 2021.
Mr. Ian Lim Teck Soon who is the incumbent TAG’s Group Chief Executive and Group Chief Underwriter will be succeeded by Ms. Ong Hui-Koon and Mr. Kanes Naidu Athinaidu, respectively. He said “This starts a new era of leadership in TAG. I have helmed TAG for the past 8 years through its remarkable growth phase. The 2G leadership is not new to many as they have been my close working colleagues and has given me the invaluable opportunity to groom and equip them into taking up the mantle of leadership to lead TAG’s voyage of Endless Possibilities. The transition to a new team will continue to harness the past strengths and experiences to drive future growth, strengthen current partnerships, develop new strategic alliances and stamping our international presence. I will also look forward to handing over the incumbency of Principal Officer of Archipelago Insurance Limited to a capable and seasoned experienced captain soon. This will be announced after regulatory approval from Labuan FSA. I look forward to our business clients and partners to work warmly with the new leadership.”
Ian Lim will assume executive roles at the group parent holdings level “Malayan Holdings”. In a recent acquisition of Front Street Re (Cayman) Ltd by Malayan Holdings as approved by Cayman Islands Monetary Authority, he will be the Chief Executive Officer/Chief Investment Officer of this company. Additionally, he will be spearheading the Technology and Digitalisation investment arm of Malayan Holdings.
Hui-Koon has over 20 years of experience in various positions such as credit financing, wealth management and corporate investments across different financial industries which includes foreign financial institutions based in Malaysia. Her experiences encompassed sales, sales management, strategic planning, product and business development for both consumers and commercial markets. Hui-Koon is also the Principal Officer of Archipelago Life Insurance Limited and Chief Business Officer of The Archipelago Group. She holds a Bachelor of Business, majoring in International Business Management and Information System.
Kanes is a dynamic go-getter and has 25 years of proven expertise in insurance, reinsurance, security management and investigation. He also had a well-structured exposure in both insurance and reinsurance underwriting and in security and threat assessment which is recognised and listed by Lloyds of London as a counter Terrorist and Political Violence Specialist. He is the pioneer in maritime and oil and gas security (licensed as a Petronas vendor) management.
Boon Ing has more than 25 years of experience in the insurance industry under various positions and companies in operational and claims departments in Singapore and Malaysia. He holds a Bachelor of Laws from University of London and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from University of Hull. He is also a Chartered Insurer and an Associate of Chartered Insurance Institute and Malaysian Insurance Institute.
